EMPTY, 2019
Plaster, cardboard (Dimensions variable)
How does all this stuff leave us feeling?
-
Empty is a movable installation of plaster-casts taken from the inside of empty delivery boxes collected from recycling bins around Bristol.
-
It is a frustrated response to our consumption based culture. What is the value of the boxes' original contents? To the shopper, to the corporation, to those involved in manufacture and delivery, to the planet?
-
Empty was first exhibited on Buy Nothing Day, an annual day of international protest against mass-consumerism, to coincide with 'Black Friday'.
-
Empty works well shown in lobbies or window sills, where parcel deliveries might usually be left. Please contact Gaby for further information if you would like to exhibit this piece.
